Online Notarization

In many states, certain divorce documents must be signed before a notary for the court to accept them.

For added convenience, we offer an Online Notarization service (Remote Online Notarization – RON) that allows you to sign and notarize your documents virtually, without the need to physically visit an office.

In Which States Is It Available?

Online notarization is available in most states where we offer services (Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Texas, and Washington), with the following important exceptions:

  • In Alabama, online notarization is not enabled. The law requires in-person notarization.
  • In Georgia, online notarization is only available in DeKalb and Forsyth counties.

If the law of the state or the corresponding county does not permit remote notarization, you will need to visit a local notary to sign your documents and subsequently send us a scanned copy in accordance with our instructions.

What Is the Cost?

The cost of the online notarization service varies depending on the state and the number of documents that must be notarized.

The specific price will be communicated to you before beginning the corresponding phase of the process.

How Does Online Notarization Work?

We use the secure BlueNotary platform, specifically designed for remote notarization in accordance with the law.

The process is simple and structured:

Once your documents are ready for signature, you will receive a secure link by email. By clicking the link, you will be redirected to the notarization session.

To complete the process, a U.S. government-issued photo identification document is required, such as:

  • Driver's License
  • Passport

If you do not have a U.S. government-issued photo identification document, you will not be able to use online notarization and will need to visit a local notary.

Identity Verification

Upon entering the session, the system will conduct a two-step identity verification process:

First, you will need to show your identification document in front of the camera so the system can validate its authenticity.

Then, you will need to show your face in front of the camera to confirm that it matches the identification presented.

Once your identity is electronically confirmed, you will enter a virtual waiting room.

In approximately 3 to 5 minutes, an authorized public notary will appear in the live session to proceed with the signing and notarization of your documents.

The notary will verify your identity again and supervise the electronic signature in accordance with applicable law.

Security and Legal Compliance

Notarization is conducted through encrypted systems that comply with the legal standards applicable in each state.

The process meets the legal identification, authentication, and recordkeeping requirements mandated by current regulations for remote notarization.

Alternative: In-Person Notarization

If online notarization is not available in your state or if you do not have valid identification, you can sign your documents before a local notary. In that case, we will provide you with clear instructions on how to proceed and how to send us the documentation once notarized.

Online notarization is a convenient option that allows you to complete your divorce process without unnecessary travel, when permitted by state law.
